It's Murphy's Law when on the water. I've seen all sorts of crazy shite.
Even if the kids were supposed to be in the river, operation of a 19' boat is a little risky. Is that even legal?
Maybe a batteau with a 20 hp.

so these kids were supposed to be fishing in a river close to home and they decided to go to the Bahamas?

Not sure. But that's where parenting might have come into play.

Every state has different laws on operating a boat, I'm not familiar with Florida's
