I know crossfit makes many roll their eyes. I started two weeks ago. Im 40 yrs old, and have been sedentary a while. I used to be a marathon runner a decade+ ago, but now im just badly out of shape. Ive never messed around with weights much ever. I joined not because i have illusions of being well built or athletic, but rather to improve my respiratory rate, pulse, vO2, stroke volume, muscle tone/metabolic rate, blood pressure, etc before i find myself facing dangerous health problems. im woefully behind most people and thats fine, but there are also fair share who are in similar position as me. Whereas i used to only occassionally jog (slowly) at lsu lakes, im now doing a full spectrum of different exercises i personally would never have been able to do without this sort of structured environment. Crossfit isnt only obnoxious cult types that discuss it facebook and what not.

I improved my resting HR and BP. My cholesterol levels have always been low (131 last week), but my HDL levels increased.

I'm already advanced as far as my weight lifting goes compared to most, but I needed some cardio to improve my overall health. I hate just plain running.
