My perspective is that everyone should view themselves as the hardest working person at their place of work. If you can't say that then your employer should replace you. If you're the owner and don't view yourself as the hardest worker then some other owner is doing it better....unless you're content with your level of success. In that case

Eh, it's a good way to keep yourself motivated. But if I do my job well and the owner works harder, good for him, he's got way more of a vested interest than I do. To me it's just a job to do to fund my real life.

This is a hypothetical, but that's how I might view it.

If THAT'S your crappy attitude, your company should REPLACE YOU! Do your job right and work hard, but work ain't everything.
