It sucks man. I've found it harder getting over the loss of pets than people

It will, but if you are like me, and it sounds like you are, your pets are part of your family. I lost my 2 labs 7 weeks apart 6 years ago, I still remember the day, day of the week, and thoughts about those days with each dog.
When ready, start memories with new ones. Dogs are awesome.
