Gamification of Amazon Echo

I was at a startup weekend this past weekend and some guys from Dialexa were working on machine learning using Amazon Echo.
It was pretty amazing to watch them have a conversation with the Alexa, borderline Turing test style.
My basic understanding is that they went around a mall and recorded people having average, every day conversations to build the language.
Their idea that is this type of technology could eventually take surveys or get feedback from consumers without it being a forced/awkward/time wasting experience for the consumer. Their business model wasn't well thought out but the technology was very cool.
Anyone have experience in this world?

Im convinced that the "Turing Test" will be the new "Schrodinger's Cat". Some former niche intellectual concept that everyone now does due to popular culture.

the problem is the Amazon architecture. It is exceedingly reliant on the library and not so much on contextual listening.
THAT is where the future will happen.

So putting a cat in a box with poison gas is something everyone does now?
Yes the Turing test will become more "common" because AI is advancing and becoming more common. Even if it does become an overused cultural reference, that doesn't detract from it's primary purpose of telling us when to panic.
