So you think that the athletic department isn't part of the university? The department owes its existence to the university. The money generated by the department is in fact university money, not the athletic department's money. I am glad we have a department that generates revenue. Kudos to the department. And I am glad it transfers money back to the university, but make no mistake, all of the money generated is university money. These transfers are not gifts or donations.

So why aren't all the schools doing this? The responsibility for funding a public institution falls on the state, students and alums. Sadly, the state of Louisiana and LSU alums have failed miserably. Less than 11% of LSU alums donate anything back to their school. Shameful...

Unfortunately the students will be the last ones to receive any benefit from this money. The admin increases salaries, funds their self gratification agendas and depends more and more on governmental funding as these areas expand. Meanwhile tuition expenses increase more than health care expenses.

Didn't realize the tens of thousands I spent while at LSU, on top of the taxes I pay every year and the sporting events I go to wasn't enough.
Giving money to LSU, a school I love, is not how I want to waste money.
