Yes there are people that have tried it, even multiple times, and it has not ruined their lives. Once they are hooked though, and if you use it enough you WILL become hooked, your life will be ruined in time. Yes some people can get their life back using rehab or meds but their lives will be ruined until they do.

you go to buy some weed or to have some drinks, there is a pretty hot girl there and she's on one and she's smoking some meth and wants you to come party with her, she's ready to get down, you're gonna do it to get laid.
that's how pretty much everyone i know that did drugs gets hooked. that' verbatium how i got hooked. went on a random arse date with this girl with a killer body. by the end of the night i'm snorting coke off her tits. then when we run out of coke she asks me to buy some crack by now i'm high as frick and honry and like frick it lol let's do this

that's simply not true. something like 95% of heroin users don't become hooked (and that includes multiple times of usage)
addiction is being more and more linked to social stimuli and not the drugs themselves. i'd imagine anxiety and OCD also play big roles
