I've been a fan of Outkast since they were playing the Top-Flite Disco in Montgomery. Been watching their 2014 tour on Youtube. It's insane how deep their catalog is. They've never put out a less than brilliant album. I hope the recent tour is indicative of a new album.

Liked their first three albums. After that, they just didn't have that cutting edge I liked about them so much.

I still respect them immensely and believe that as a 1-2 combo, they were the best of the south and south coast areas. I think their best album to this day remains ATLiens, but the production effort on Aquemini was second to none.

When Mrs. Jackson came out, that's when I had enough and then Roses -- what an annoying song.

I saw them live in '96 and they, next to Nas, are the best hip-hop show I have seen out of the 10-12 that I have seen.

Wearing my ATLiens shirt right now. So glad I finally got to see them last year. One of the best shows I've seen.

Outkast is above any ranking system, they are the golden standard for music. I'll be 65 sitting on my porch nodding my head to this ish

I'll admit, I didn't "get" Aquemini when it first came out. At one point, that summer, I was driving around in the hot-arse Bama sun in my Cutlass, smoking a blunt, and it all clicked.

Gangsta shite was one of Andre's best verses but I get what you're saying. "Now bitches sucking on my nouns and I'm eating their verbs".

If I had to make a 10 song best-of, you'd only find the first three albums on this:

1. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik

2. Ain't No Thang

3. Wheelz of Steel

4. Babylon

5. Mainstream (Goodie Mob really makes this track, though)

6. Millennium

7. Aquemini

8. Slump

9. West Savannah

10. Da' Art of Storytellin' part I and II

^Boom. Recipe for success.

I would include a couple Goodie tracks like Black Ice and Dirty South. Solid list, though.

Don't get me started with Nas. I could start a thread on It Was Written.

As ridiculous as this sounds, I "get" UGK more than outkast and honestly prefer them.

I am still a huge outkast fan though.

I wish they never made Idlewild. Everything before that was GOAT. But Idlewild was some of the worst garbage I've ever heard.

I agree 100%

Truth. The went pop and were rewarded. I prefer their 90's style rap, rather than the bubble gum rap they spit out in the aughts. "Hey Ya", "Roses", no thank you.

I loved that album, but Illmatic is still my favorite. It was Written, however, showcases Nas and you can tell that the record company put a lot more dough behind him on that one.

Quick story...my Freshman year at LSU I got very homesick. That summer, while I was still at home I was introduced to Illmatic and loved it. When I got to campus dorms, I had left several of my CD's at home...damn near cried. My dad gave me 100 bucks and told me not to spend it all for two weeks. I went out looking for Illmatic at the two nearby record stores. NO dice...they did, however, have It was Written. I remember buying it around sunset and went down Brightside to Levee Road so I could do my daily "smoke alone". I remember hearing the intro and The Message and that homesickness truly started to fade. Then, I met some friends who introduced me to Wu Tang and that's when I fell in love with east coast rap all over again (along with ATCQ, Nubian, Poor Righteous Teachers, and NbyN).
