Sorry to derail, back to the topic at hand.

Like others have suggested, I'm all for getting a slightly used car and saving money.

Gas mileage is huge to me, as is having a car that has good technology and electronics.

ETA: Also important to me that I get a reliable vehicle that won't cost an insane amount to maintain and fix should problems arise.

Well, there goes my evening.

As others said, get one with 10-30k miles. That lets you get more options than you could have gotten with a brand new one and equal $.

The accord is actually a nice car. If you don't need a truck but had one for a while you might should look at a crossover. I couldn't imagine trading from my truck to a car, but an suv could be doable.

I agree with the 10-30k mile option. Would allow me to get a little bit better model and possibly brand with better options.

The crossover option is also growing on me. Think having a little more room than a car would be nice, and the ability to fold down the back seats would be huge.

No.

But buying a 7 year old car as a faux status symbol is a douche move.

Personally I would buy the 7 year old one for performance. I would buy the 2015 one for status

eta

The 2015 is definitely out of your price range

Pretty much. ...but a Cayenne especially. Get a fricking 911 not a Porsche suv.

Most 7 year old sports cars end up needing repairs. They're not fast if they're broke down. He'll obviously need a reliable car.

There isn't a $30k car that is a status symbol.

I agree with the Cayenne part, but not everyone has 60k or 70k to spend on a 911. There's nothing wrong with Caymans though.

I have a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire that has had no issues and still runs fine. And before you say "oh you have a shitty
Chrysler sports car" I'm a 20 year old college student that bought it with my own money. And it depends where you live for the status symbol. In fricking Mississippi it's really easy to impress people with a 30k car that looks sporty. Hell, I always have people thinking my car is brand new or really expensive when it's not

I agree....but a Porsche is an FU vehicle.....the Cayenne is a....well I need a more practice vehicle but I still want the FU status so I will settle for this but I am still flipping you off.....in a practical way......so lame. If you can't afford a real Porsche then don't buy a Porsche. ...

Sounds like you live in a shithole.

Yup.

Hell, riding the "clean bus" there is a status symbol.

Eta: I wouldn't have ever considered typing "Chrysler sports car"

Yeah Mississippi is a shithole, and I absolutely hate it here. Good thing I can easily leave with what field I'll be going into.

Not bad for a Chrysler

eta

Oh and Chrysler didn't even make it. A German company called Karmann built the Crossfires.
