2013 model truck and all these sensors started going off while driving down the road. Drove it home and when I got in it to bring it to the shop it wouldn't start. Mechanic told me the sensors were shorted out.
Has anyone had this issue or heard of it being a common issue?
Fwiw the mechanic bill is $800

Are you past your warranty?
Posted on 7/10/15 at 2:38 pm to FelicianaTigerfan
Yes on an 08 acadia it was brake sensor control bad. I had battery changed and one other thing fixed at dealership and it was only 500.00 so I think you are getting hosed on the price.

No but my wife's 09 Acadia's transmission just went out... I called GM, the car was out of warranty by a year, but was still under the mileage warranty.. They covered 55% of the cost... Wound up paying 1500 on it....

He told me the sensor was shorted out. Ive read where the steering sensor could cause the same issues also.

It could be a hub assembly in which case , is coverd under PT warranty. The ABS sensor / speed sensor are part of the hub assembly. Did GM fix this and charge you 800.00 or did you just believe from some other mechanics that it wouldn't be covered and had it fixed?

Brought it to a GM dealer. One that also has a reputation of fricking people over in the service dept
They told me the 5/100 warranty wouldn't cover it and I would have to have had the extended warranty

this is a known issue with 07-09 acadias ours dropped at 70k thank goodness the 5/100 was still in. I didn't pay dime plus gm paid my tow bill.

Look in your owners manual for parts covered. Did they replace the hub? Or ABS module? Seems low for it to be the module.

they just called me with an update and said they have ordered the parts and it should be ready Monday afternoon.
Ill bump the thread when I find out more

OK, good deal. Was wondering if it was maybe a flood vehicle.
Just bad luck to have that fail...

Wait till the timing chains stretch and you have to pay for that job!
Entire engine, transmission and front subframe assembly have to come out of the vehicle for the job to be done...
GM extended the warranty up to 120k miles I think though. Problem starts with a check engine code that says something like "cam to crank sensor position fault". Had to bring mine to 2 dealers. Went to first one armed with all the info I found online about the problem. Even had a copy of the technical service bulletin. Dumbfrick service writer there wouldn't even look at the timing chains unless I would have replaced the crank sensor, which he was sure the problem was. That was Brian Harris GMC in Slidell. I went literally right next door to Levis Chevrolet the next morning and by 2 pm they confirmed it was the chains, and had all the parts ordered. Would have been a $2k+ job without warranty.

FWIW, here's a forum thread on a chevy truck forum that has your exact issue: LINK
Also, everyone should invest in one of these: Bluetooth Check Engine Code Reader. They're too cheap not to have one. You can at least go into the dealership armed with the diagnostic codes so they don't try to rip you off. If you're mechanically inclined at all, you can at least Google the codes it gives you and you can narrow it down a little on your own.

2009 Yukon
Its happened to me twice. I took it to the dealership and both times after two days, they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it.
