Goodbye Cable but what about Football?

I been thinking about ending my time with cable and just sticking to Hulu and Netflix, but as football season approaches I don't know how I am going to watch my games (both Auburn and LSU is what I care about)!! I do have an Apple TV and getting a Chromecast for my other TV.
Do you have any positives or negatives about the Chromecast?
Does anyone know how to watch football games online so I could stream it from my phone or laptop?
Should I just try and see for football season if I can have my cable service just for football season?
I was thinking about getting a Smart TV (wanted the internet base website), but I needed up talking myself out of that, unless someone can give me a good reason why. I just think after a few years it will be outdated for the processing speed and the software would outdated.

If only there was a stickied thread on the tech board that would answer all these questions.

I guess I really do not expect anyone whos main concern is watching sports, to take the time and do some research on their own

This, I use ROKU. Probably won't be as convenient at Directv watching multiple games but oh well.
