My rating on a scale of 1-10

Season 1...9
Season 2...8.5
Season 3...9.5
Season 4...10
Season 5...7

I think S1 and S3 would be 10's for me, just awesome TV. S4 9.5, S2 8.5-9, and S5 8. I didn't like Carcetti with as much screen time as he got and it was always those long fricking speeches but that season was some great TV.

Just finished my first re watch a couple months ago showing my wife the show for the first time. She loved S1 and S3. She didn't like S2 as much and didn't like S4 that much either. She was meh on S5. Overall though, she thought it was a great show. She loved McNulty, Bubs, and Stringer

I loved all the main characters for the most part (Omar, McNulty, Bunk, and Slim ) but really didn't like Snoop and Marlo. Bubs did a phenomenal job

Watch season 2 with the understanding that it's not about the ghetto as much and that you'll get back to those story lines. Imo it is as good as any of the others but it's different. I appreciate it a lot more now than I did the first go around because I wanted to know what was going on in the western....season 2 is a work of art.

Yeah, I think S2 was great. First time, I liked it on it's own merit, but after watching it again you realize how good it really is and gives you lots of insight into the whole game.

ETA: Ziggy was so fricking annoying though, I think he is a reason some people don't like that season. I wanted to beat the shite out of him so bad
