It sure looked like Quintana was stronger in the later mountain stages, but maybe Froome was being conservative and making sure he did not blow up. He hinted at that in an interview about the impact of stage 2.

yeah but that was a stage where the GC players were supposed to be in the mix... not stage 2 which was supposed to be a bunch sprint... Nairo losing 1:30+ on stage 2 was HUGE

ETA: and I am still so disappointed about TVG getting so ill on the 1st day in the Alps... you wonder if he would've been on the podium or even may have challenged for the yellow jersey

speaking of TVG... what does the future hold for him? the commentators keep talking abot Richie Porte moving over from Sky to BMC and you know he's not going to help TVG but to try for yellow on his own
