Even going to the celtics blurs people's opinions of Allen, as Paul pierce was by far the best player on that championship team, and allen's contributions were a far cry from being worthy of consideration for top 10 all time SG. For the last 6 to 7 years of his career Ray Allen has been thought of mostly as a 3 point specialist.
Also being a great player on bad teams that nobody saw play didn't help his cause.
