Here's one that most of you wouldn't probably pick, but it was a great single episode and just happens to be the first one of that show I watched. I was instantly hooked:

Magnum P.I. - Home From The Sea: Magnum's tradition of spending the Fourth of July alone at sea turns to a life-and-death battle when he's capsized, and a current takes him further and further from land. He uses his memories of family to keep himself alive while Higgins, T.C., and Rick begin to search for him.

It really showed a lot of back story on Magnum. I always thought the show was beefcake drivel/prime time soap opera. But it was actually a gfreat show with tons of action, good stories, great continuity, and interesting characters.

Thanks for reminding me about that Magnum PI episode. I loved that show. It may not compare to the best of modern tv shows, but it's often underrated. Although, truth be told, I think they must have saved the bulk of each year's budget for one or two really good shows, and the rest were subpar.

My favorite was the one with Ivan - "Did you see the sunrise this morning?"

Fantastic episode.

WKRP - Who's On First (Season 4, ep 6) - Herb is in the hospital so Carlson ends up pretending to be Herb, Les as Carlson, Johnny as Andy, and Andy as Johnny's brother 'Randy'. Many underrated episodes of the series besides Turkey's Away.. like A Commercial Break and Carlson For President
