And some, I assume, are good people.

Are y'all fricking retarded supporting what he said? Of course he has the freedom to say it all he wants. And businesses can choose not to do business with him.

Just like people chose to go balls-deep to support Chick-Fil-A or boycott them for their CEO's free speech.

And if anyone don't see a problem with his verbatim quote, then you're exactly the stereotype of a Republican that they say you are.

quote:

During his campaign kickoff speech on June 16, The Celebrity Apprentice host said, “the U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best.” He added, “They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

Its a shame some of the people so insistent on a return to the values of our founders have so little understanding of the actual content of the Bill of Rights.

Here's a basic refresher-- the 1st amendment does-- prevent the Government from arresting anyone for speaking out. The 1st amendment does not-- prevent companies from firing people for what they say-- you might have a case if Trump was fired for say voting a certain way, but the 1st doesn't let you say whatever you want with no reprecussions from anyone. This isn't just a mistake the right makes (though they make it more often) remember back in the 00s when the Dixie Chicks got dropped from radio stations for speaking out against the Iraq War-- well that also wasn't a violation of the 1st Amendment.
