Check Wing Joe passed away Tuesday, June 23rd in Memphis, Tennessee. He will be missed by many friends and his loving family.
Chuck, as many called him, was 75 years old and was born in Canton, China on March 15, 1940.
He graduated from Fair Park High School and earned a degree in electrical engineering from Louisiana Tech. While living in San Francisco, Check joined the team of engineers who helped design the city’s BART public transportation system.
After moving back to Shreveport, he changed careers and opened the Kon Tiki Restaurant in 1970, which remained a popular gathering spot for 38 years.
Check is survived by his wife Katherine and daughters Nicole, in Dallas, and Melinda, who lives with her husband in Tokyo, Japan.
A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m.at on Monday, June 29, in the Chapel of Osborn Funeral. Officiating will be Msgr. J. Carson LaCaze.
WE WILL ALL MISS HIM DEARLY.

I lived kitty-corner to them in University Terrace subdivision for many years.
Mom was a strict disciplinarian. When the daughters misbehaved the punishment was to clean the leaves on all the plants. That would be about 100,000 leaves.
Nicole was really bad at 'fishing for compliments'. She would whine that "I'm ugly, I'm not popular, I have no friends." She was actually very beautiful, very popular and had lots of friends.
