In my experience, HEB does beat Publix in price. Publix has them on service and possibly cleanliness, but both stores are usually pretty great. The cheapest big grocery chain I've shopped at was probably WinCo, but you have to bag your own groceries. All that said, Wegmans is easily the GOAT.

ETA- I have family in Los Angeles, and they have a small chain of grocery stores in the area called Super King. It blew my mind when I went there the first time and saw their produce prices. They have to be the cheapest anywhere.

HEB is overrated. I can't understand the infatuation. People in Houston go nuts for HEB but Kroger is cheaper and Randall's is more pleasant. HEB has a Walmart atmosphere most days Bc of the hordes.

I used to love publix when I lived in ga. I hate going to win Dixie, albertsons or Walmart. They basically say frick customer service. Or maybe its just that I live in BR and there is just a certain type of people that work at these places. So even if they did bring publix here, it will still be full of the same employees.
