They didn't know how to make it happen. Being a great front office isn't about acquiescing to the specific desires of their star players. It's about getting the job done.

MJ would not have had the wisdom to trade for Scottie Pippen. And he damn sure wasn't in favor of drafting Horace Grant since that made his best friend Charles Oakley expendable.

Doing whatever your star player wants you to do means you're a crappy front office. That doesn't mean you never take his wishes into consideration but the front office needs to do their job.

Of course. But players of Lebron's caliber (of which there aren't many) certainly do (and should) have an impact on things of that nature. Just like with MJ, sure the front office didn't answer his every beck and call, but we're insane to think Jordan didn't have input on certain decisions and players...just like Lebron does as well.
