You still have ads when you pay for cable too
Yeah, and that's also lame IMO.

This is kind of the same discussion I had about TV shows airing week to week. "That's the way it's always been" is not an excuse for being wrong. We are in an improving and changing market.

You don't have to watch ads on Netflix or Amazon. If they can do it, Hulu can do it. I'm not saying that the library is not awesome, but that's also not an excuse. I'm simply saying that they should be able to operate without ads for paying customers. We shouldn't defend it. Just because one aspect is wrong doesn't mean it's a bad product, it just simply means that that one aspect should be fixed.

They may never change their ways and some people may be cool with it, and that's fine. But it doesn't mean that they shouldn't change.

Is something changing?

Youtube is even coming out with a sub service that will allow you to not have ads. Why would Netflix or Amazon go backwards?

It is definitely an excuse. Hulu has a far better library than both of those.

Yea, it doesn't have to have ads for paying costumers, but it isn't that bad. Plus, if it results in a better library, I'm not going to complain.

That's really all I'm saying.

Yea, but the question is, would the library be nearly as good without the ads?

I doubt it.

Maybe. If that's a factor, I would understand. Personally I would rather have the option to pay a little more than to have ads, but that's me.

Yes. It's Comcast. It's old media. They have all the necessary deals and connections in place.

It's humorous when Comcast TV customers gleefully proclaim that they're "cutting the cord", and then subsequently mention they've subscribed to Hulu. This is essentially a lateral move. You're still giving money to the same entity from which you were trying to escape.

You pay for ads on Hulu because it's TV 2.0, brought to you by the same old media companies that are desperate to prevent you from abandoning cable television.
