Only way I see Alan not winning is if he just decides that he's got nothing more to prove and he's ready to go home.. He hinted that he feels that he's proven to himself that he can survive and probably thrive.. That could lead to him eventually just calling it a day

I think you guys are short changing Mitch and Sam. We see little of them because the conserve. Alan is the most likable, being an educated hick, but they are on equal footing. To hear Alan talk about being a failed father shows me he's vulnerable.
