Since there are dentists here, is there a such thing as dental anxiety?
I seriously get freaked out with people putting their hands in my mouth. It almost gives me a panic attack.
Im serious. I feel like a baby, but I avoid the dentist for this reason.
Would I sound like a junkie asking for gas?
Btw, who's a good dentist in BR that won't screw me?

Probably 40-50% of my, patients used nitrous. A lot of people have anxiety about dental treatment, and I think men tend to be worse than women. No dentist should look at you differently for requesting nitrous. I would much rather work on an anxious patient with nitrous - it just made my job easier. Watch they don't charge you out the arse for it - it's not that expensive. For around 15 years my office didn't charge for it. After costs rose over the years, we started charging around $10 for it.

My mom's a hygienist for Dr. Mark Porta and Scott Porta. Off of Drusilla. She's been there for 15+ years now. They are great dentists who take the "wait and see" approach with things that aren't as glaring. I had some cavities started that didn't quite get through the enamel. Better flossing and a prescribed fluoride rinse and I was good by next visit.
