Also a little research shows that the takeoff angle is actually around 60 degrees, pretty steep compared to a normal takeoff but calling it near vertical is a strech, the camera work makes the angle look more severe. They have been doing this maneuver in the 787-9 at European airshows since 2012.

Maybe the 787-8, the 900 didn't leave the ground until September 2013.
