Towing capacity, ground clearance and MPG are the first three things I look for in such a vehicle. I recall none stacking up to the latest Outback which is cheaper.
Edit: I'm wrong about towing. 5000 is very strong (reviews say 6000 lbs--wish a manual diesel was coming). And ground clearance is killer (10.5). That price tag is a bit much though. MPG OK for those specs but a good 10mpg worse than Outback. I compare to Outback only because it's the overall best small suv/crossover, to me.
Crap now I want the Volvo.
