If the spring isn't broken, it just needs the tension increased, which is a 2 man job and you'll need a properly sized pry bar and allen wrenches.

that will get you hurt, one man job, a set of winding bars(4' x 5/16" bar from HD cut in half,) and a 1/2", 12 point socket and ratchet, wouldn't try it unless someone showed you how, not hard but there's a lot of energy on that spring and if you don't use the proper technique it will frick you up,if you think about it, air to air missiles are a set of expanding rods, and if that spring unloads on you it will be a scaled down version of that
