That was horrible, but one thing to point out is that Jason Cole and Sean Payton are very close friends.
I wasn't aware of this. While Brees is still a very good quarterback & he shouldn't be faulted for the issues along the offensive line, I don't understand why some have chose to quickly dismiss some of the points of the video.
People seem to forget that Brees' shoulder has been surgically repaired. At some point even pitchers & quarterbacks who haven't had major arm surgeries begin to lose velocity towards the latter part of their careers. The chances that Brees begins to lose some velocity a bit sooner than those is definitely real.
People must remember also that the players go through thorough physicals & medical exams. You have to believe the team doctors have monitored Drew's shoulder very closely on a yearly basis since he was first signed. It could be that the doctors are beginning to see early signs of deterioration in his shoulder.
The fact that the organization chose Garrett Grayson, (pro style, short term project) over Bryce Petty (spread, long term project) in this past draft, should have been an eye opener for every Saints fan.
When the real decline does come for Brees, it's going to be quick & most fans won't see it coming. I much rather the proactive approach the organization took in this draft rather to be blindsided with no back up plan in place.
