Honestly, look at his numbers the past 3 years. They have declined, no doubt, but look at what happened as well.
Colston began to age, interior protection also began to age, and young guys didn't step up when given opportunities.
Last year, he was one of the best QBs when he had to make something happen after the pocket collapsed. Yes his INT numbers are up, yes his sack numbers are up, and that is why CSP revamped his offense.
1. Got Unger to shore up the inside barring health
2. Got Spiller to give him that "X" factor RB that his offense requires. Dink and dunk when necessary right?
3. Got Peat to give them a 3rd solid OT and possibly even shift the line around

Those are good points but it also makes for the lack of attention to the guard positions this offseason a head scratcher. Drew is going to have to be more protected up front more now than ever before in his career. While the addition of Unger is great, poor guard play this season will negate the positive upgrade he brings to the line. They all have to work in sync to be successful. Even Brady (early last season) & Manning (late last season) looked like dog shite when their respective offensive lines had issues. Brees is no different.
I just hope Payton & the rest of the organization is correct in feeling that Jahri Evans can bounce & that Tim Lelito can be solid. If not, all the positive additions & player development at other positions will suffer if there isn't a significant improvement on the interior of the offensive line. It all begins & ends up front.
