what makes people act different in different parts of the country?

here in nashville in even the worst parts of town i can go into a WANGZ shack or popeyes and the people serving me the food are nice as can be, usually even calling me 'honey'. always get my order right away and its generally correct.
but god help me if i try the same thing in baton rouge or nola. i feel like they'd just as soon reach over the counter & rip my throat out as take my order.
eta i have yet to find a place 'ghetto' enough in nashville where the employees aren't pleasant.

no, just saying the employees are sincere..you can't really fake if you're all pissed off taking someone's order.

I've been to ghettos all over this country and honestly have never had a problem in any of them other than a homeless or two asking for money.

The difference is that I can go to pretty much any Taco Bell or Burger King or McDonald's or Wendy's here and receive courteous and fast service. It's not just limited to Cane's or Chick Fil A.

I think you're lying and I'll use the recent TSA investigation as proof.

And if you live in a part of the country that has QT gas stations...you HAVE to go there at least once.
The nicest gas station experience you can have. You will be told "Hi, how are you?" and "Have a nice day" at least 2-3 times while inside there by more than one employee. Greeted with a smile when you walk in the door or go to pay for your gas/drink/whatever instead of a frown and a window into the cashier's absolute miserable existence of a life. Most of their workers are all college kids so that helps tremendously.

Nashville resident here. For one thing, the people that are here want to be here. That trickles over to the customer service aspect of business.

If I was slinging fried pieces of meat for $4.75/hr I'd be pretty bitter too.
It's a cultural thing. I think some people think of it as a dead end job and others think it is just a stepping stone for a better life. It is definitely an organizational culture issue.
