Chattanooga is better suited for outdoors activities CAD.
They have closer and better mountain bike trails, white water, camping, etc.
ETA:
Nashville, relative to other major cities, is excellent in this regard. Chattanooga isn't a major city though. Its also closer to mountains. You just don't have to go as far for some elite white water/camping/trails.
