Yes it is a position of fear.

You're telling them to not exercise their freedom in a legal manner because you're afraid of the response.

That's sad.

Oh gay marriage has a lot to do with it. Muslims hate gays. Think they should be killed. If the gays became violent, should the Muslims stop believing gays should be killed, or advocating it?

No it's tactical. In not saying don't attack, don't fight. I'm saying don't escalate in a way that removes the ability to be surgical about it.

I could be equally hyperbolic to your style of argument, but I'm not going to.

I love this. Put yourself in their shoes if you can.

If there was an angry bunch of armed protestors outside your church during service yelling at you for a couple of evil wackjobs that used to go there, it would be just as messed up and you'd be taking the other side. And don't even start with trying to justify it with "well we don't bomb people" etc etc.
