There's no mystery to the Winter Soldier. His name is Bucky Barnes. He was Cap's best friend in the first film before he fell off a train in the mountains. They assumed he was dead. He wasn't.
He will probably take over for Cap when he dies.

I never saw the first and have no clue about anything captain America except what I saw tonight
