Luckily my company has a deal where you don't have to fill it back up and they fill it up with the price of the day not the ridiculous overcharge rate.

You messed up. You should have filled it up. Own your mistake and don't do it again.
I made a similar decision two weeks ago and I swear my car was 98% full (just below the F on the gauge). They charged me like $18.00 to fill up what was probably $2.00 of gas.
Tough shite. Own it and don't don't do it again. Don't use AMEX or whatever as a cop out for your mistake.
You signed the contract and didn't fulfill your end of the deal. Why should the car company have any sympathy (Note: They shouldn't).
