Yes, people do weird stuff with their pets. Sometimes it's ignorant, but your opinion holds no water if you're ignorant enough to think dogs have no human-like qualities. And the thought that we humans aren't animals and our emotions are purely human experiences is a primal dark ages way of thinking.
Some dogs are stupid, just like people, but some are amazing and have the depth of thought and emotion that human children have. Every time someone says "it's just a dog," then I know not to attempt any conversation with that person that will require any thought beyond small talk.

I use to work with this one girl who does this. Her and her husband tried for years and could not have kids. They both got checked out. She was perfectly normal but he was sterile. She claimed she was ok with no kids. Now, she treats her two dogs like they are kids. Dresses them up, takes them on vacation, has birthday parties for them, posts hundreds of pictures on Facebook. It really is very sad and pathetic. I truly feel sorry for her. She is a beatiuful woman, 9/10 in my book (no pics), and in her late 20's. She currently is content on being a dog parent instead of a real one. It is sad.

Why don't they adopt or get a jizz donor?

I never asked and I never will ever ask. I stay out of it. Women can be an emotional train wreck on this topic. Personally, I think this will happen sooner than later. She will go on a rant, on Facebook, about this and then delete her posts shortly afterwards.

My dog lives like a dog and doesn't get any special treatment from me.
ETA: lives outside during the day
Eats pro-plan
Gets a bath maybe 1 time a month
Isn't allowed on furniture
He's happy as frick

I've caught my gf looking at dog clothes online a couple times and had to put my foot down. He's half Doberman for gods sake, he's a manly dog. We are getting him trained to be an attack/protection dog when he gets a little older... But she wants to buy him a sweater because "he gets so cold and he looks so pitiful"

My wife runs with our dog and asked me if he needs running shoes. I am not fricking kidding.
And when it snowed, she thought he needed a coat even just to go for short walks. I will never let this shite happen. My dogs will never wear clothes or shoes or anything of the sort.
My dog looks like this picture. How in the world would she think he needs a coat to stay warm?

yeah that's pathetic. Dude is born with natural clothes, so he doesn't need some gimmick designer dog clothes bullshite made by some kid in a Chinese sweat shop

Spend more money on anything for the dog than it costs to replace the dog; this is something I've never really quite understood. I certainly don't begrudge people their pleasure in pet ownership and doing such things, I've just never really understood it.

Don't know how strange it is but my dog likes to ride in the truck so I take her every morning when I go have breakfast before work and then take her back home.

I bought my Daschund mix puppy some pet stairs so he could get on sofa. He also has a blue t shirt with peace sign made from little silver studs. More clothes to come, especially in winter, maybe some little booties too.

Having a dog is like the guy on the money commercial. Do with them what you want, its your money/dog. Had a lab that drank water with his nose outside the bowl, funny shite. I have another that sneaks around to me after I tell it to sit away from me, again funny shite. But like another said earlier there is no better feeling like when you come home and your dog is there, tail wagging, eyes wide open, glad you are home.
