I don't think that's it at all. He thought it was a ball (even though he's mashed pitches like that before) because he thought it was a ball, not because the high and mighty Bryce Harper shant have called strikes against his name.

First pitch of the at bat, 3rd inning. Unless there's more back story, just shake your head, at the MOST, and finish the at bat. Maybe a little bit of ego.
