Honestly, I wouldn't mess with the red dot on top of the magnified scope. Unless you're shooting competitively. You will never use that in a real world situation. I have been through Aimpoints, EOTechs, and long range scopes on my ARs and the one I like the best is the Vortex PST 1-4. It has the power and clarity to reach out to 200 yards, but still has the eye relief to quickly engage close range targets. IMO it is the perfect optic for the everyday short to medium range AR platform. My best advice is don't be cheap when it comes to optics. They fall under the category "you get what you pay for" more than any other item I can think of.

Vortex PST 1-4.

Your best option & bang for your buck out there right now. On 1 power it has fast target acquisition much like a red dot.

This gun is for shooting pigs. The past two times at my lease I've come across pigs under 50 yards away in groups of 8+. I'm thinking the red dot would be great for these situation after the first shot and they scatter.
