Well, I am speaking of "hunting", not shooting. Didn't mean to change the subject. Shooting a trophy deer because you figured out its habits and ambushed him is an accomplishment. Having a dog tree a bear, walking up under the bear and shooting it (to me) isn't much sport. jmho. same as high fenced paid hunting for deer. no accomplishment. again jmho.

The state has to start opening up a limited season on these guys. They are becoming a nuisance.

Jesus, the 2nd person in this thread bashing bear hunting and completely jumping to conclusions. I dont care what anyone thinks, a bear is a more challenging animal to kill than a deer. They have a much greater sense of smell and do not pattern nearly as easily. There are other ways to hunt bear aside from shooting it over bait or treeing with dogs. A spot and stalk bear hunt with a bow may be the most challenging hunt one can do, aside from bull elk.

But they may argue, they trained the dogs, patterned the bear, etc... Not just turning a hound loose and hoping he finds a bear trail.

I just like hearing different opinions on what is sportsman like. Every body has their own line they draw. Doesn't make anyone right or wrong just different.
