Paul couldnt hold a legitimate fact based conversation about any sport.

Its amazing how very few people realize this. He can only discuss the politics and issues of college football at a 20,000 foot level. If you call in ask him to break down film, he'd either change the subject or defer to a future guest. He made his name on stirring the pot and getting Bama & AU fans riled up.

It really sucks that he's the face of the SECN. Last week, I flipped to his show and it was a debate about who was better: Saban or Bryant? I know its May but who cares? That shite gets old fast to most normal people. His schtick of riding one meltdown after another is tiresome and when he turns the show over to the callers, you can give up any hope of hearing a productive discussion. Unfortunately, his audience eats that stuff up. Its a shame the SECN gives him so much facetime.

When he had his show in Birmingham, it was at least tolerable because he'd discuss local issues. Now its just a clownshow. I don't see how any fan who is not a redneck Alabama or Auburn fan would enjoy it.

An older caller, not from Alabama, called in a few wks ago to complain about everything that has been noted here. But he especially knocked the Jerry Springer aspect of the show's callers. Finebaum acted like he cared, but when he flipped the conversation over to his 2 producers, they both smirked & said, openly laughing, that they thought the callers were funny. Finebaum then added " and so we will keep taking their calls".Point is, all ESPN cares about is ratings, and apparently, the J.Springer dynamic is bringing in good ratings. And his show is caller driven only to the extent the callers usually follow up on one of his rants, especially his bama rants. In comparing SEC coaches, Finebaum opened with "we all know Saban has retired that trophy, so we're talking about second place".

Fairhope Tider you couldnt be more right.

Any caller that has a question about what should be common sports knowledge for a sports radio host he deflects with the quickness. Its always the exact same tone and line too. You can hear it in his voice, he has absolutely no idea. Occasionally he will answer later in the show when he has had time to look up the answer on his computer.
