Boston is cool for 2 or 3 days but if I were planning a trip I'd definitely be spending more time in NYC as there's so much more to do there. I second the guys who suggested flying into Boston (Logan is incredibly easy and connects straight to the T) and NOT renting a car. The T is very easy and you can take the train to NYC just as easily.

Makes sense, but if you mention those two cities and I try to think of what I'd want to do/see in each city, I can think of more things in Boston.
