It was a very bad performance, but it was not even close to the worst performance that any team had in a BCS Title Game.
In the BCS Title Game after the 2001 season, Miami led Nebraska 34-0 by the second quarter and then called the dogs off. Nebraska never had any chance in the game.
After the 2012 season, Notre Dame was down 28-0 to Bama before they knew what hit them, and they never had a chance in the game.
After the 2004 season, USC blasted Oklahoma 55-19, and the Sooners never had a chance in the game.
After the 2006 season, Florida dominated Ohio State 41-14 and the Buckeyes never really had a chance from the start.
I think you're exaggerating and insulting our 2011 team by saying they were the worst ever in a title game. The defense fought valiantly and only allowed Bama 5 field goals all the way until the end of the 4th quarter in that game. The game was competitive until the very end when that one touchdown by Bama late in the 4th quarter finally sealed it for them.
Before that happened, just one break for LSU could have swung the momentum in our favor and we might have rallied for the win. I'm very proud of the way our defense fought and fought and kept us in that game.
