Where to start?

In the long run I can accept they killed off Barristan. I would have preferred to see him go into that big battle that was raging at the end of the books but others can play that card (Tyrion is not a bad strategist judging by the battle of Blackwater I think). If they really did it just for shock value then I do think it was a misstep. But if they had legitimate story reasons to remove him I can understand.

The thing that did piss me off was they turned the Unsullied into a bunch of jobronis to those Sons of the Harpy losers. Heck, even being unnumbered, the Unsullied could have put up two shield walls and handled those jokers. Especially since they were in a narrow corridor and couldn't be flanked.

Likewise, the Faith Militant look like a bunch of fools and them being a threat over Kingsguard and even regular royal troops requires some serious suspension of disbelief for me.

Barristan did good but like someone said up-thread that whole scene just didn't seem that well plotted, choreographed and executed. Selmey deserved better.

Loved the Wall stuff, Tyrion and Jorah and Jamie and Bronn. The Sand Snakes seem kind of stupid but they kind of did in the book too and hopefully the show will use them to contrast with Prince Doran playing the long game.

Exactly what I was thinking. Another thing... Where... were... their...shortswords. A good tactician knows that the spear is good for long range attacks, so you abandon them when they get past your spears. And draw your shortswords. That's what the Romans did. Their shortsword was called a Gladius.

Where was morale in this melee? The Sons of the Harpy were hired thugs. Hired thugs don't fight to the last man. They run the frick away. The Unsullied do fight to the last man.
