There's no way the Saints pass on him at 31 lol. They are here to save the day. Collins has been a role model in the locker room up until now.

so in a situation like this what, in your opinion, would be the quickest way to clear your name?

What news have you been watching? According to police they have already talked to him and will be meeting with him after the draft.
Be nice if people would read before panicking!

Thanks Schefter
What is really annoying is how he and the others get on TV and say "I've heard from several teams that blah blah blah is off our boards.""

But he knows full well they are lying and just trying to manipulate the process hoping the player drops to them. It's all lies, everyone knows everyone is lying, but they act like they are serious.

The only people who have dropped Collins from their boards are the people who don't need him anyway.

Shefter is now reporting that several sources have told him Collins will not be drafted at all.

@jamesharalson: Adam Schefter on @1045espn's @MikeAndMike: "There were teams telling me yesterday that he will not get drafted." On La'El Collins

He was projected as high as the 10th pick. I think he does drop SOME because of this. As a Saints fan, the only good thing to come from this may be him falling to 31.

It's amusing how many down votes you are getting. The posters arguing with you have their heads in the sand. You're not actually saying anything negative about Collins, yet the geniuses on here are incapable of realizing that this story will scare some teams in the current NFL climate.

If he goes from a top 15 pick to a second rounder then guess what? IT AFFECTED HIS STOCK. This place sometimes.

There's no until now. This is murder. I think the story is bs, but it isn't like this is a failed drug test.

I think the scare here would actually be worse before the rookie pay scale

No intelligent person thinks Collins is even involved in that situation.

Actually that is not an extremely intelligent comment! A young man who is about to make multiple millions of dollars in less than a week has a pregnant girlfriend that is mysteriously murdered. And you don't think the police are seriously curios about any involvement from the boyfriend that is about to become a millionaire. Than you sir need to get your IQ checked!

I am not saying Collins did anything, but I can promise you he is a person of interest you better believe that. They are going to check him up and down. And if you don't think football players are capable of killing pregnant girlfriends or hiring someone to kill their pregnant girlfriend. You don't have to look any further than Ray Carruth to prove that point.

Ok why don't you reverse this and look at it from an NFL teams position to see what happens in the draft. Ok Collins was expected to go in the top 25 picks. A top 25 pick is basically thought to be a day one starter and have a projected long carrier in the NFL, especially OL positions.

So if you are an NFL team with that high a pick you are basically looking for as much of a guarantee player as possible that fits their needs. Now you have a player that you have circled as your guy to draft in that position in the draft that mysteriously has a pregnant girlfriend of his murdered just 5 days before the draft and there are no details, other than it looks like someone she knew, as a suspect in the murder. Are you seriously going to take that risk of wasting a pick that high if it turns out that Collins did have something to do with the murder? Well you had better get the blessing from the owner of the team prior to picking him or that will probably cost you your job if you are the GM if you pick him in the first round and he ends up going to jail over this.

I can tell you if it were me, no way I take that risk unless there is definitive news that he isn't involved. Other than that I would not pick him unless he is available in the 3rd round or so where the wasting a pick if he is involved doesn't cost the team as much. Just too much risk unless you are absolutely sure he isn't involved, and at this point the only person that knows that is Collins and God!

Obviously you have the intelligence of a flea! Not getting in front of this and being pro-active about what is going on in the investigation and trying to help as much as possible would signal some guilt. If you were not involved in anyway why wouldn't you talk with the police? She is the mother "apparently" of your child wouldn't you want the individual caught that murdered your alleged girlfriend? Wouldn't you want to help the police as much as possible to help them catch the murderer?

Not talking with the police would be more of a sign of guilt than anything else.

Collins should have some serious beef with the police if he falls out of the first round just bc he is simply wanted for questioning just because he knew the victim.

Seems like there is more to this if he comes back to BR and misses the draft tonight, but hopefully he is not involved.

"just knew the victim" Allegedly she is an ex-girlfriend of Collins and allegedly she was carrying his child. You might want to change the wording from "knew" to "intimately involved" with the victim.

Lael will go in the first.

Hey if you want to make a small wager "let's say a bottle of booze selected by the winner" on Collins being selected in the 1st round, I will take that wager.

I can't find one updated mock draft analysis that still has Collins in the 1st round. Unless the BR police comes out with a statement prior to the draft "and that ain't happening" that Collins is not involved in anyway in the murder investigation, he is not going in the 1st round no way no how!!!!
