same here. Although we were probably closer to $5k. We give each of the nieces and nephew $500 a year. that adds up quickly.

Yep. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten upset with my wife about it. I gave up years ago. Took a few years early in our marriage, but I eventually realized that there was nothing I could do about the "I got my friend a set of earrings I found on sale at some boutique" purchases.
