Because if the grocery store employee gives you something and doesn't OK it with management, it's called stealing.

It's only stealing on the employee's part. Trying to put any blame on a "customer" for receiving free goods from an employee is not really appropriate.

how so? That's nonsense.

I thought it was common knowledge that he wasn't stealing it in the "traditional" sense of the word. One manager told him he could have em any time he came in, but that manager wasn't in the store that day.

If I'm at a restaurant or anywhere, and the support staff tells me I can have something free, I'm not confirming with the story owners, nor is any of us.
