I'm not sure Ajinca will be back.

Almost assuredly Asik will be, if they sign him for more than 11 I might vomit though

They just gave up a first for him, and they'd roughly the value of the MLE to replace him with (presumably they'd be operating below the cap if they let Asik walk). Best bet would be to sign him for 10ish, and don't sign any more deals longer than one season. Go into the 16 off season with ~25 mil in cap space and a core of Asik, Davis, Pondexter, Evans, and Holiday. Which would be enough to offer a max deal to a player with less than 6 years of experience.

Sounds like a plan to me!

Not many wings to pick from there though. You're looking at Harrison Barnes and MKG . . .

We have to plan for next summer, not this summer.
There's no guarantee we make the playoffs next year.
The west was loaded this year, but i think it will be worst next year.
Teams that will win 50+ games easily, assuming no catastrophic injuries.
GSW
OKC
LAC
Memphis (if Gasol stays)
Rockets
Spurs
Portland (who dealt with a good bit of injuries this year but still own 51)
Dallas wins 50 games almost every year
You can easily see 9 teams winning 50 games, assuming relative health, with the Pelicans as one of those 9.

No telling what the Lakers do in free agency, although they are probably waiting for the next year as well.
Utah was very good after the all star break.
Phoenix is hanging in there.

We have to look ahead and plan for the big FA market after next season, and not handcuff ourselves now. There's very little if anything we can do this offseason to become title contenders, but there's things we can do to prevent us from hampering us from becoming one in the future.
next seasons free agency will have a huge impact on who will be the title contenders for years to come.
