I really enjoyed watching Asik cap the sh_t out of Westbrook on the Thunder's last possession to single handedly win the game for us. The only moment I enjoyed more this season was Anthony Davis' three pointer to win the following game against the same team.

I'd hate to break it to you guys, but if Asik wasn't on this team, the Pels would not be in the playoffs.

false.
Take Asik out and put in just about any other decent center and we'd be no worse. There's at least 25 guys that could do at minimum what he does, which is be 7' 260 and have negative offensive skills (can't even give him 0).

Yeah he helped us beat OKC once with his presence down low at the end. He also had 2 turnovers and 2 missed dunks in that game, 5 points 8 rebounds. He also siglehandedly loss the game against the Spurs. Outside of the one OKC game, you never said this year, "man we wouldn't have won without Asik today"

quote:

We're 2-4 without him and our two wins are Secramento and Utah, two world beaters right there

Let's look at the 4 losses
At LAC without Ryno and Tyreke
At GSW without Ryno and AD
At Denver, Ajinca 12 points & 8 boards, Mozgov 5 & 4
At Portland, Ajinca 6 & 8, Lopez 8 & 6

The only team in the league that he gives us an advantage playing against is Memphis. They are big and play slow. Every other team in the league he turns into a liability on the court for the most part b/c he can't catch and gets the majority of his dunk attempts blocked.

38 listed below, take 10 out if you like, and the other 28 would all have been as good if not better options than Asik. On top of these 38, Okafor and Towns will obviously be better choices than him as well next year.

Jordan
Cousins
Drummond
Chandler
Vucevic
Noah
Gobert
Kanter
Mozgov
Gortat
Valanciunas
Jefferson
Dieng
Bogut
Thompson
Hill
Gasol
Gasol
Adams
Lopez
Lopez
Horford
Hibbert
Pachulia
Len
Kaman
Biyambo
Plumlee

Nurkic
Koufas
Mahinmi
Henson
Olynik
Perkins
Sims
Whiteside
Speights

Asik sucks. I don't mind keeping him, at 7-8 million/year, but we need another center that doesnt' look like a bean pole that has some semblance of offense.
If we resign him at 10+ multiyear, like some on here think we will, we are doomed. I wouldn't mind the guy if he gave the effort every night, but too many times he looks and plays like he just doesn't give a shite that day. There's times where he really looks good on defense, and makes a difference out there, but it's like once every 5 games he plays like that.
