I've seen it in other cities as well


I don't know why they separate it out. Seems like a way to make people think you are nickel and diming them

a lot of the third party booking sites sort by rate (and resort fees dont count as rate).

also a lot of people dont pay attention and get stuck with it.

Probably for the government travelers...roll it into the room rate and it goes over the allowable rate, break it out and it gets counted as taxes/fees. I know Vegas used to be quite popular for government functions. I assume it still is.

Exactly. I know they are trying to maximize revenue but the way to go about it and sneakily put these fees in are just pissing off potential good, loyal customers. I guess vegas don't care since they have unlimited supply of people going there each year.
