Something else that has crossed my mind regarding Tyrion being Targ...

Tyrion, having killed Tywin, is thought to be a kinslayer. I believe it is said that kinslayers are cursed. If he is Targ, he didn't kill "kin", so therefore not cursed. Meh. Too much running through my mind on a Monday.

I've thought about this before and still think this may be the case. I don't recall who says it nor the exact quote, but the statement is made that Tyrion is Tywen's only true son. I believe Jaimie says this to Tyrion. I am not able to research this currently unfortunately. Anyone remember the details of this statement?

Yeah, that one is at least interesting and doesn't really take away from any of the characters, and if anything validates things.

First as noted, it would be fricking hilarious if Tyrion was Tywin's only son. Secondly it confirms Tywin's blindness to his own children. Thirdly, Cersei has only been attracted to 2 people, Jaime and Rhaegar.

Next, unlike Tyrion and Aerys, Jaime being the Mad King's son would radically change his worldview and he'd be horrified. Also explains Cersei's madness and infatuation with wildfire. Finally it creates an interesting parallel between Jaime and Tyrion in that they both murder their own fathers.

Tyrion on the other hand merely validates his eye color, slightly lighter blond hair, and dragon dreams. Nothing else.
