Blowing head gaskets doesn't have anything to do with emission control equipment.

I was under 5lthe impression one of the main cquses of headgasket failure was failure of the egr cooler.

No shite man. A 2013+ was on side of me the other day and I couldn't believe how quiet that motor was.

Although the EGR cooler was a major problem on the 6.0, the major cause of head gasket problems was due to people putting programmers in them and jacking up the horsepower and stretching the head bolts. Head studs were the cure for this.

I'm often tempted by those fine lookin F250's, and they're cool to ride in. My wife even asks me why I don't go buy a "new truck."

I have an '07 Chevy with a Duramax that has 120k miles on it. Not an eye catcher at all. The ignition switch has been changed, and I replaced the soft goods in the fuel filter assembly. That's it.

Just can't justify replacing it. It's been paid for a long time...

6.0 was the worst motor made.

...um... 6.4? cough cough

The 6.0 was not that bad once bulletproofed. If not hotrodded they would go until the turbos puked oil. Round about 240k on average.

Best one is to do the ford with a 5.9 cummins swap. Best combo never made. Given how much you can get a shitty 6.4 with a junk motor for, it almost makes sense.

The 6.0 isn't bad if you work it hard and take care of it properly. Lots of failures are due to people treating them like old diesels: running shitty fuel, neglecting filter changes and maintenance, and using them only for 10 minute drives to work and back. If you run them like they're meant to be run they're not bad.
