Maybe it seems that way to you because you have no idea what you are talking about and you assess by a whole different metric than people who actually know what they are doing and who actually know the game?

I really can't believe that you said that.
I evaluate the game based on objective data, and can support my arguments with evidence. To many of the ex-players like objectivity and have nothing more than "gut-feelings." Not to mention, their statements often contradict the evidence. For example, people that say the game has changed and has become all ISO (as if it wasn't before), are contradicting the evidence. If they just read any Zach Lowe analysis, they would see that's categorically false.

that's an effective strategy, however I think a few points are lost on half of the MSBers.

Data-i.e. PER isn't perfect. There still a lot of information unknown at this point. Especially defensivley. While help defense has improved, that's more an adaption of strategy and rule changes than judging talent....

which leads to the another?-how dumb were most coaches in the 80s-90s when they failed to adapt to the 3point shot?

Also, on the lower levels didn't adopt the 3 point shot until the mid to late 80s-which certainly stunted the evolution of the game.

but to discredit players, including Kobe (who really talks out both sides) is kind of like being a SJW these days, most have no clue.
