What application are you using for Maps and Navigation? Is the BB Maps any good? Can you install Google Maps on it?
Also the Passport's screen size aspect ratio is 1:1, but aren't most Android apps are made for 16:9 or whatever (where the expectation is you hold your phone in portrait mode)? How do these Android apps look and work on the Passport?

I've had no problem with the android apps. If you are in an android app, swipe down from the top. You can quickly change the viewing ratio as it gives you three options. It will stay on that option for android apps unless you change it.
For the maps, I paid and use BeMaps. It gives me different layers such as a straight map or one that includes satellite photos. It seems to use the Google maps for its base.
I've used BB Maps before and its pretty good. It comes preloaded on the phone.
Actually, I read your question and just downloaded Google Maps on Snap. Seems to work just find. Found my home on it.
